There's been no real not to move from where I am. We've put our house up on sale and as such, I've let my neighbors come over and dig out what they want in the plant collection that I've attained over the years. My neighbors know my babies are rarities, specialty plants that haven't gotten the chance to bloom because I keep moving them around every year, not happy with the way my garden is Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05224144224646856274noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4857954690861889584.post-35251984532770519822017-05-16T19:58:00.000-07:002017-05-16T19:58:08.528-07:00Tulips . bulbs, big holes and the lazy gardener.
Now here's something no one will tell you. That the ever loving secret to having a great bulb spring garden is to dig big holes around your plants in the fall and dump a huge box of fifty bulbs into it. This hole has to be deep enough that you could bury your pet hamster in a shoe box and still have some substantial room around it. You don't want the squirrels to get these bulbs, they'll just Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05224144224646856274noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4857954690861889584.post-85205328769804556892013-12-28T10:11:00.001-08:002013-12-28T10:11:21.198-08:00The great destruction of our trees
With winter comes snow and with snow, came freezing rain and layers upon layers of ice. It was dangerous just to walk outside your door. There was no where you could buy salt and power was lost all around Toronto and the area surrounding it. A quarter of a million people lost power, including us. It came to a point where the ice was so heavy on the trees that you couldnt' stand outside Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05224144224646856274noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4857954690861889584.post-25106701000586503682013-12-06T07:42:00.001-08:002013-12-06T07:42:16.289-08:00At some pointIt's been awhile right? Right.
So let's just talk bulbs, since I'm on this fun filled blog of mine that I never quite came back to. Everyone's got a hobby right? Mine is writing and gardening. Though over at my writing blog, I try not to put too much down. I'm always afraid someone will rip off my ideas and write it before I can get to it. Here is my writer's blog. It's where I spend Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05224144224646856274noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4857954690861889584.post-43101285732436759342012-08-09T14:51:00.002-07:002012-08-09T14:51:15.245-07:00
This is someone's house that I went to. It has a HUGE greenhouse in the back and pretty much all types of plants that are basically tropicals. It's a tropical paradise and it's a really nice greenhouse. I, personally, would love to own something like this. you can't even tell that it has a greenhouse from the front. Unbelievable.

I actually didn't. I just had to set aside a full year for a recovery for spinal surgery. I had to put in a resignation to my beloved job, not because I wanted to, not because they wouldn't have modified the job for me, but because it's just one of those signs in life where your body says stop and you need to listen. I, Andrea Scott, dug to china (with my husband and baby) as threatened and woe to discover more clay! (And interlocking underneath). While I was sick, I thought it would be a good idea to move the soil pile to the garden. Good idea? Wrong!I'm paying for it now by being sicker and sore. TGIF.Simply put, I hate my new boots. Maybe hate is a harsh word because I don't usually say it and yet when I do, I usually reserve it for the latest 80's song I've heard on the radio, or asking myself how many times Pitbull tells me I should know he wants me. My other coworker has them and though I know she got blisters countless times, I thought that I could pass Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05224144224646856274noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4857954690861889584.post-69645907744019676052009-07-29T08:08:00.000-07:002009-07-29T08:16:36.359-07:00Wow Factor lackingIt's wedding season so I thought I would do up two wedding planters. Pictures never do them justice and at first, I hated these but I got the flowers down right and now they look okay. This is the second one. We planted it. We're waiting to see what it does. 2 feet, zone nine which means we need an insane amount of heat in a zone 5 to get this baby flowering. So far, slow as hell due to cooler weather conditions and rain. Like we're in august now people. What the heck is happening? We're having October weather here! Anyways, I think we're going to heckle our grower to do this oneAndreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05224144224646856274noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4857954690861889584.post-76969027454298414002009-07-24T20:06:00.000-07:002009-07-24T20:16:15.455-07:00The rain stormhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05ip-N0H1IgAndreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05224144224646856274noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4857954690861889584.post-47432656054592648732009-07-24T19:46:00.000-07:002009-07-24T20:06:47.578-07:00HOLA from the grave!I finally cut the garden in the back. FINALLY. It only took me from April until the end of July to do it but I got it done! Ten bags of soil later, mixed into clay and I was able to finish planting the veggie plants I got free from work (end of season stuff). It has my Jap maples in it but you can't see them so well. It nearly killed me.My son is learning to mow the lawn now.The dog run! Because of the cold weather, it carried over into this week and it's far more busy than I anticipated. We're loaded and ready to go and even sold out on a few things (which is insane because I've NEVER been THIS sold out before!). I thought I would take a few pictures of the greenhouse monday morning, even though I only get to it wednesday. Geranium 'Esspresso'. Looks like someone needs a spellchecker, but I kid you not, this is how it's spelled. Do I know a lot about this perennial? Not too much. Hardy to zone 4, full to part sun, May-june blooming. It's actually a nice little plant, more english garden feel to it. Dicentra ' Burning Hearts'. If you don't know this one by now, get to know it! It's a sister to 'King of hearts' , Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05224144224646856274noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4857954690861889584.post-61679239642214681222009-05-18T18:16:00.000-07:002009-05-18T18:54:14.083-07:00The painful GardenerThere's nothing like going out to get your hands dirty in the garden, hunched over, one hand supporting your body, the other working frantically against the time it takes for your back to call it quits. Your wrists complain with a increased ache that climbs up your trembling arm and you push your back into the opposite of an arch, trying to stretch that dull ache out, just to hold off a little Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05224144224646856274noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4857954690861889584.post-51513199975380245872009-05-15T17:27:00.000-07:002009-05-15T18:43:55.726-07:00Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day & Hodge Podge FridayAt work, across from vegetables, in the shrub and tree lot, we have a pond. It's where we send everyone to go to talk about trees and shrubs. It's a key meeting point and everyyear we plant stuff into it. Well, last year, one of the employees pulled a lot of stuff out, cut back and opened up the garden so I could go in there and plant the hell out of this garden with bulbs. I lied. Not what's new exactly but what came in. Some of them are new. Some are not. We just got them in the greenhouse and they're going pretty good. We sat down last year and picked out our varieties, found the ones that grow better, bloom more, and are more uniform in growth habit. That's where we differ from the regular greenhouses, where they're annuals are generic, ours are superb!
